Two letters from Edward A. Walker, member of the FirstMinnesota Infantry, Company D, to George W. Knight, of Massachusetts, while oncampaign. Walker wrote the first letter (June 25, 1861) in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania,while en route to Washington, D.C. He wrote the second (September 9, 1863) inAlexandria, Virginia, soon after the regiment had helped prevent the possiblerecurrence of draft riots in New York City.
